Dear readers, this article is written by the author, loosely defined as coming from a Messianic Jewish or Hebraic Christian perspective. Also, due to the length and part of my work going missing, it’s being published a little late. Thank you for understanding.

The Strange Times We Live In

An interesting alignment of events has taken place this year that has raised heightened curiosity and opinions over it’s meaning. The coincidence of two days of remembrance: the memorial day of 9/11 (Patriot Day) and the memorial day of Rosh Hashanah, which ushered in the Jewish calendar new year of 5787.

Patriot Day commemorated the remembrance of one of the darkest days in American history when terrorists attacked the world trade center, the Pentagon and an unknown failed attack by hijackers on a fourth plane that crashed in Pennsylvania.

On this year’s evening of 9/11/2026, at sunset, another day of remembrance also begun to be observed by Jewish and some Christian communities around the world: Rosh Hashanah.

Is it just coincidence or does it hold significant meaning in the cosmos?

Rosh Hashanah is a two-day observance and a very full Jewish holiday (or holy day) that has too much wrapped up in it to be unpacked in this article, but it is the day that begins the “fall feasts” holy days and also begins the “days of awe” leading up to the highest holy day of Yom Kippur. These are 10 days of reflection, repentance and returning before G-d.

“The 9/11 Living Memorial was first established in 2009 by KKL-JNF and Jewish National Fund -USA. The impressive, thirty-foot-high bronze sculpture was created by the Israeli artist Eliezer Weishoff and KKL-JNFs’ landscape architect Yechiel Cohen. It portrays the American flag folded into the shape of a memorial flame. A metal shard from the ruins of the Twin Towers is incorporated into the base of the monument, which overlooks a magnificent vista of the Jerusalem Hills and the Arazim Valley.”1

A Bad Omen?

In the following video Rabbi Aron Sokol poses the question, “This year, Rosh Hashanah falls on [the weekly] Shabbat. The last time this happened was the year [of] October 7th. So is this an ominous sign?”

Rabbi Lawrence Hajioff responds with, “We have a tradition. It’s actually mentioned in the Aruhk LaNer2. He [Rabbi Yaakov Ettlinger] says that when Rosh Hashanah and Shabbat coincide…there is definitely going to be a more tumultuous year ahead. This year is one of those years and strangely enough, so is next year.

He continues to demonstrates apparent synchronicities around these coinciding holy days, which happen on average every 3-4 years3, and why some believe they could be significant indicators of future events.4

For example, the first year the first temple was destroyed in Jerusalem, Rosh Hashanah fell on shabbat (Saturday, the 7th day of the week).

In 1929: The Wall Street crash
1932: Hitler appointed chancellor
1942: Holocaust
1962: Cuban Missile crisis
1979: US Embassy [seizure] [Iranian hostage crisis] 5 that continues to present day
1989: Berlin Wall fell (positive)
2020: Covid-19 crisis
2023: Hamas attack / [Israeli/Gaza crisis]

So, is this a double warning of disastrous events on the horizon? And if so, what does it mean, and what do we do about it?

(If I had to give any personal warning, I would advise everyone to mark the year of 2030) 6 7 8 9

On the secular calendar, Rosh Hashanah falls on the evening of 9/11 and continues through to the evening of 9/13, 2026, but the Hebrew calendar is what determines the dates, depending on when the month of Tishrei begins. The interesting thing about this is that it comes from the Torah (first five books of Moses) and is actually called Yom Teruah, known in English as the Day of Trumpets or Feast of Trumpets.

Yom Teruah was when the Israelites were commanded to blow the shofar, a trumpet typically made from a ram’s horn. This horn was meant for ritual purposes and celebrations and was blown to alert the people to each cause. For Yom Teruah a series of specific blasts are made to bring spiritual alertness and in ancient times, a local gathering call.

In the Jewish tradition, this holy day is observed throughout Judaism in mystery, but in the Christian / Messianic belief system, these sounding trumpets are mentioned in the book of Revelation and elsewhere to indicate worldwide warnings that culminate in the “last trump” when The LORD himself is revealed to all people on earth.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”10

In recent decades the traditional shofar has become an item of increasing popularity among both Jewish and Christian circles as more and more return to using it in modern times, and so increasing its unique sound being heard in communities around the world.11

Could this be an unwitting attempt to familiarize and attune people’s ear to hearing something greater in the universe?

Trumpets Heard Worldwide

By this time, I’m sure you’ve probably heard some form or another of the worldwide phenomenon of strange sounds from the skies. While no one, including in the scientific community, has an absolute answer as to why these sounds are occurring randomly and globally, many liken them to the sounds of trumpets or shofars.

For me, it’s impossible to hear these sounds without being a little unnerved and that’s generally the share experience everyone has had.

A Reversing of the Trumpet Order

This year something unusual happened when it comes to Rosh Hashanah. When the first day of the holy day falls on Sabbath, the shofar is not blown, but this year a decision was made by some of the rabbinic court to blow the shofar after all.

“A newly reconstituted beit din of three, led by Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, founder of the Temple Institute in Jerusalem, announced this week that it intends to sound the shofar on Rosh Hashanah despite the day falling on Shabbat…” -Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz, Israel365news12
